Prep School - Teen Tree: Defense

...In the early days of the Christian era, Rome dominated the civilized world and nothing was more symbolic of the power of Rome than the Roman army. When the Apostle Paul, who was also a Roman citizen, was spreading the Gospel throughout the land once known as Asia Minor, he often compared the Christian believer to the Roman soldier. Paul understood that there was an invisible war going on—a battle for control of our soul between God and the forces of Satan. With this in mind Paul often used military metaphors to describe how we as Christians were to defend ourselves against the forces of evil....

Prep School - Junior Tree: Undeserved Suffering - Part 3

...You can’t learn about suffering without learning about prosperity. It’s a big word but it’s a simple one. Prosperity is success, wealth and riches. The cool thing about prosperity is it’s the time during which we enjoy the growth we’ve made. The opposite of prosperity is adversity. Adversity is hard times and difficulties. These things are what very often bring on the growth. But please note that they don’t always help you to grow. As we learned last week, in order for a believer to grow in bad times, they must apply Bible doctrine to the situation. So, suffering in your life is part of God's plan because it allows you to appreciate Him and what He provides. Suffering is designed for our good and for God's glorification. It reminds us that we know nothing and are nothing apart from God's grace. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (HEB 4:16)...

Prep School - Teen Tree: Distractions

...You may remember when you became a member of God's Royal Family. That was the day when you first believed in the Lord Jesus Christ; the day that you entered into a special relationship with God. Maybe you became a believer when you were very young. Then again it might have taken a while, and you may have spent a few years in Bible class before it all began to make sense and it came together in your mind when you understood the simple, beautiful truth of God's word and His promises of blessings, and you wanted that special relationship with Jesus Christ....

Prep School - Junior Tree: Undeserved Suffering - Part 2

...One of the most important things that you will ever learn is found in PSA 34:19: Disciples so often get into trouble; still, God is there every time. (The Message Bible) A disciple is another word for a believer who is following Jesus. Now, you know, just as sure as you’re reading this, you’re going to get into trouble at some point in your lifetime. It’s all part of having an old sin nature. This is true for every person on earth, so you’re not alone. But what you have to remember is that no matter what you get yourself into – God’s got your back – every time. Trouble is most often accompanied by suffering. Sometimes the suffering comes into our lives because of bad choices. And sometimes, suffering is put in our lives by God on purpose. This type of suffering is put there to help us to grow spiritually. That’s why God puts it there. But whatever type of suffering it is, God has got your back and His Word will get you through it. And H...

Tree of Life: We are here for a time such as this. A look at the Book of Esther.

Grace Bible ChurchTree of LifeA Weekly ReviewWeek ending 042813 We Are Here for A Time Such As This. A Look at the Book of Esther. We wrapped up our short study of the Book of Esther. The main theme of the study is that we are here for just such a time as this. Mordecai will say that to Esther basically, don’t be afraid…you need to realize that you are here for just such a time as this. We will see that is what Esther needs to motivate her into action. So one of the lessons we learn from this study is that we all need to realize that we are here for just such a time as this. God has a plan for our life, and put us here at this particular time. Each one of us, young or old must realize that if your still alive there is still a part of His plan to be lived. Living and...

Tree of Life: Being a soldier for the Word of God. Part 8

Grace Bible Church Tree of Life A Weekly Review Week ending 041413 Similarities of being a soldier and the Art of War, Part 8. Eph 6:10 begins the subject of divine power for the plan of God that God has ordained for the Christian soldier to live in. This is what we call the ability to handle spiritual warfare. This is the subject of Eph 6:10. We all need divine integrity if we are ever going to be victorious in spiritual warfare. So far we have the phrase Eph 6:10, Finally, be strong in the Lord, The word finally is actually the translation of two words, tou loipou which should be translated from now on. Ever since Eph 5:22, Paul has taught them the principles behind relationships such as marriage, family, parents, children, management, labor, friendship,...

Grace Bible Church Tree of Life A Weekly Review Week ending 040713 Being a soldier for the Word of God. Part 6. We are continuing our study of what it means to be a Christian soldier with emphasis upon the spiritual life we are called to live by God. Rom 11:29, for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Eph 4:4, {There is} one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; We began with our first point, Point 1. which was our definition and Introduction. We began with a very simple but important statement. The spiritual life that God has provided is a system of biblical mandates and biblical principles, not designed to change your personality, but designed to glorify God as He intended it to be. And we noted the importance...

Tree of Life: Resurrection Day Message 2013

Grace Bible Church Tree of Life A Weekly Review Week ending 033113 Resurrection Day Message 2013 No one can read through the earliest account of the Resurrection as it is given in the Gospel of Mark without being arrested by the extraordinary significance of what we are told about the great stone which according to the evidence was placed against the entrance to the grave. We are all familiar with the kind of shock a man experiences when he encounters something for which he is not looking for, something which, like a footprint on the sand in Crusoe's story, sends the mind swiftly back in search of an explanation. Footprints in the sand by Mary Stevenson One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.In each...

Publication: The Angelic Conflict

The Angelic Conflict is all around us as we rush through life. The goal of this book was to provide the answer to life’s most
complex questions: “Why are we here?” “Why is there so much chaos?” “Why do the evil seem to prosper?” “What is beyond this life?”
Questions like these may seem extremely complex. However, like many things in life, the more complex a question seems, oftentimes the answer is not as complex as one may think. The Bible provides the answer to those questions: It is because of the Angelic Conflict. We are here because of the Angelic Conflict. We are here to be a part of the solution to that conflict. In our life here on earth, we are not so much human beings going through a spiritual experience, but as born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are more like spiritual beings going through a human experience.
Once you realize why you are here, you will find your spiritual life revitalized. This book will provide you with not only answers, but also tools and weapons that God has made available for you to use in the conflict. The writing of this book is the result of over thirty years of study and teaching of the Word of God. The goal of Pastor McLaughlin in writing this book was to share with you, the reader, what he has learned through God’s grace during that time.
